Door County Cherry Recipes for Summer and More!

Hi there

Happy August! Summer sure is flying by! This month I'm going to try celebrate and make the most of every day of summer!

It's cherry time! We moved to beautiful Door County, Wisconsin last fall. We're loving life here! It's cherry central! We have lots of orchards not far from our house.

The cherry crop is fantastic this summer! They grow lots of different varieties. It's so fun to pick your own.

I love visiting all the little farm markets here too. From fresh cherries, to frozen and dried cherries, I love them all!

One of my favorite things to make in the summer is chicken salad. It's a great way to use leftover chicken.

My Door County Cherry Chicken Salad is always a huge hit! Perfect for showers and book club meeting. It's great to have in your fridge for easy lunches or nice light summer dinners too! No time to cook the chicken, no work. Just pick up a rotisserie chicken and shred it up. A lot of stores now even have pre-shredded rotisserie chicken.

Speaking of salads. We love to start summer dinners out with a big beautiful tossed salad. This Cherry Pecan Salad with a delicious light quick and easy homemade cherry vinaigrette is a taste of summer. It's so fresh and yummy! Goes with whatever you are grilling. Toss it up this weekend!

Why not make a special breakfast this weekend. We love doing a nice brunch at home on Sundays. This Cherry Almond French Toast is AMAZING! You can even frozen cherries from the grocery store. What a treat! Great with bacon or sausage on the side!

Need to bring dessert to the potluck. No time to bake? These cute mini Cherry Pretzel Tortes are so easy! They are salt and sweet and and just delicious. You can layer this in small mason jars or even clear plastic cups. Or make one big dessert in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Either way it's a WINNER!
