August Recipes & Amy's Danube Trip!

Hi there

I hope you had a great week! We sure have! Hello from Vienna, Austria! It's such a beautiful city! There are 25 of us for one of my Cooking Mom Vacations. I have such a fun group on this trip! We started with two wonderful fun filled days in Munich, Germany. Now we're on a river cruise on the beautiful Danube.

It's always hard when a trip like this comes to an end but I'm excited to get home to our dog Arlo. I'm also so excited for the rest of summer! I can't wait to get home and start cooking with all the fresh garden goodies! It's tomato dip! I'm so excited for the summer tomatoes! I LOVE a good BLT sandwich. My BLT Dip is the perfect summer appetizer. Super easy and you can make it ahead. I serve it with pita or bagel chips. So yummy!

I can hardly wait to get my hands on some Wisconsin sweet corn! I haven't had any all summer! Use that corn, potatoes, onions and pepper to make my Smoked Sausage and Veggie Foil Packets. Foil packet cooking is a great way to go in the summer! Throw these packets on the grill or over a grate on the campfire. They are so full of flavor and no mess to clean up. LOVE THAT!

For dessert no need to turn on the oven and heat up the house. Pick up an angel food cake and use the fresh blueberries to make this nice light Lemon Blueberry Trifle. You can layer this in one big trifle dish or pretty glass bowl or make individual desserts and layer it in mini trifle dishes, canning jars or even clear plastic cups. So pretty and so easy!
